Yes, there is actually a real chance that Trump could win yet another presidential election. So, it’s not a bad idea to prepare yourself, in case of such an event. We’ve gathered a collection of Gambit H+K’s recommended comfort readings to dive into if the “disaster-scenario” happens to become reality. Happy reading.
Dictatorship – the solution to climate change
While our flora and fauna is likely to suffer if Trump remains in office for another four years, it might help to engage in some daydreaming about how we could have solved climate change – in a parallel universe. In his book «The Zeroing of Paul Abel», Bjørn Vatne writes about a future where Europe is suffering from extreme drought and Scandinavia is drowning in rain and flood. Everything is quite bleak, but suddenly a coup takes place! The green party called Pan-Ethical Alliance, has taken power and plans to make drastic decisions to save the planet. An interesting thought to play around with, if you ask us. Read the book to find out how the story ends. Find the book here: Ark.no.

The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes – and Why
Author Amanda Ripley explores how people react under stress and during crises. Why is it that some people are paralyzed in the face of danger, whereas others react quickly and rationally? How does the psyche function and how do we best cope when disaster strikes? Timely knowledge. You can find the book at Bokelskere.no.

Because survival is not enough
Emely St John Mandel invites you into a universe revolving around memory, survival and the compelling necessity of interpersonal relationships, in her novel «Station Eleven». The story takes place before, during and after a pandemic, where those who survive must rediscover beauty in a new world. Freakishly recognizable perhaps, but also an important reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, regardless of how shitty the road is to get there. Worth a look at ark.no.

Lastly, you can find advice on self-preparedness for emergencies from «Sikker hverdag». It might be a good idea to make sure you have a couple of extra cans of Spaghetti ala Capri in storage.
